Finally, the viaduct on the Vilnius-Trakai road is open to traffic again – these words probably now come from the lips of every driver traveling on this route. Although the overhaul has required all of our patience, we are pleased to announce that the main works have been completed. The minor final works will be completed at the beginning of the new year.

The path of repairing the viaduct was difficult – starting in the autumn of 2022, it required unforeseen solutions. During the works, it turned out that the condition of some of the viaduct structures is much worse than the initial studies showed. As a result, we had to stop the work, carry out an examination of the building and adjust the project. The colleagues SRP projektas together prepared the project of the new show in cooperation with all the construction participants in just three months. After resuming the works in May 2024, we committed to completing them by the end of the year and kept our promise.

In the course of this project, a sensitive problem characteristic of many Lithuanian bridges built during the Soviet era became apparent – their true condition is often revealed only after the repair works have started. Since the construction was carried out in a manner that did not comply with norms and standards during that period, and the materials used were of dubious quality, it often turns out that the condition of the structures is significantly worse than it was possible to determine during the initial inspections.
This case has reaffirmed the need to pay special attention to infrastructure renewal. Now, after all the necessary works have been carried out according to the updated project, drivers can again travel comfortably and safely on this section.
