Today, at the event at the viaduct, together with representatives of the Ministry of Transport and Communications and Via Lietuva, we presented what reconstruction works of the Gariūnai viaduct are starting, how they will take place and what traffic changes should be expected.

We will carry out the works in stages: first we will demolish and rebuild one side of the viaduct, then we will carry out the same works on the other side.

During the reconstruction, the traffic organization will change in two stages. The first traffic organization scheme will come into force on March 30-31 and will be valid until September, when we will start the demolition and construction works of the second half of the viaduct.

“The Gariūnai viaduct is one of the busiest traffic junctions in Vilnius, where traffic jams were formed both on the Kaunas-Vilnius road and on the road section from Kirtimai to Gariūnai even before the reconstruction. We are well aware that these works will affect the daily movement of many residents for some time. Temporary traffic inconveniences during the reconstruction are inevitable, but our responsibility is to implement this project safely, consistently and as smoothly as possible,” says CEO Eduardas Grinaveckas.

Understanding the inevitable impact on residents, we will carry out the demolition works of the viaduct on weekend nights – from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m., when traffic is lowest in this section.
