Rail Baltica Boosts Business Growth in Jonava: Impact Felt from Cleaners to Auto Mechanics
The strategic infrastructure project “Rail Baltica”, being implemented by construction contractors Tilsta and Fegda, is contributing significantly to economic growth in the Jonava region. As reported by jonavoszinios.lt, the impact of the Rail Baltica construction is being felt across a wide spectrum of professions – from cleaners to auto mechanics.
“The scale of this project allows for the creation of added value for the local economy through various services and employment opportunities. Fegda and Tilsta not only bring their own highly skilled professionals to the site but also actively collaborate with the local community – hiring local residents and sourcing subcontracting services from nearby businesses,” said Povilas Beišys, Deputy Mayor of Jonava District.
The Rail Baltica project is stimulating local business not only in the construction sector but also across various service industries that support the project and its workers.
“Local cafes, restaurants, hair salons, markets, and small retail businesses are also experiencing a positive impact. Every worker who is employed or temporarily residing in the area becomes an additional economic driver, helping to increase turnover and business activity throughout the region,” Beišys added, noting that the project has even attracted new companies to Jonava.
The main contractors Fegda and Tilsta are responsible for building nearly 28 kilometers of railway, including the railway embankment, bridges, viaducts, and other essential railway infrastructure.
Thanks to the project, around 800 new workers have been brought into Jonava and its surroundings, opening up new business development opportunities for local residents.
