The demolition work of the Kruno Bridge will begin in April

The demolition works of the bridge over the Krona will begin as early as April, and transport traffic will be launched along the temporary bridge built nearby. You can see all the stages of the reconstruction of the Kruna Bridge in the animated video.

The reconstruction of the Kruna Bridge is another excellent example of synergy between Fegda grupė companies The reconstruction works of the bridge in the worst condition in Lithuania have been entrusted to the company Tilsta. Meanwhile, both temporary and permanent Kruna bridge projects were prepared by the design company SRP projektas.

At Kaunas, on the A1 highway, the construction of a temporary two-lane bridge over the Kruna River has already been completed – only the asphalting works of the accesses remain and in April it will be used to divert traffic to traffic. At the same time, the demolition works on one side of the old bridge over Kruna will be started.

The 128-meter-long modular bridge is the longest temporary bridge in history ever built in Lithuania. Its structure – the bridge overlay – was assembled on the shore and then “pushed” onto pre-installed supports.

The installation of the temporary bridge will not stop traffic traffic, thus avoiding the associated time and financial losses, as there will be no need to stop or make large detours.

“This is a completely atypical and unique bridge reconstruction project in Lithuania. Not only have we built the longest temporary bridge in Lithuania, but we will also carry out all the reconstruction works without completely stopping traffic on such an intense highway. We will do all this in the shortest possible time – in about two years,” says Eduardas Grinaveckas, CEO of Tilsta.

The total weight of the new permanent bridge will reach 6100 tons. The reconstruction works of the bridge over the Krona are planned to be completed by the end of 2026.
